Authentic Peranakan Cuisine

Head Chef Ben or more affectionately known as “Uncle Ben”, is an award-winning Master Peranakan Chef. Having more than 28 years of Peranakan cooking experience as well as being a true blue Peranakan, Uncle Ben has prepared meals for a host of celebrities and notable dignitaries, including Royal families of Bahrain, and Kuwait. Using the freshest ingredients & produce available, he aims to reintroduce old favourites as well as introducing secret recipes of old Straits Chinese families.

Think recipes passed down for generations that take hours to prepare and are not normally served in the usual restaurants, you will find them here. Just to name a few of the unique dishes that we have are Belimbing Pork, Sotong Hitam, Otah Cabbage Roll with Laksa Sauce, & Itek Sio.

Our signature and still the crowd favourite is the Laksa Goreng – each mouthful is a burst of lemak laksa flavour. The Betel Box version of Roti Babi which hails from Penang is also a must-try when here.

We also serve English breakfast, dessert and cakes. From fry-up breakfast to gourmet cakes, coffees & teas, we have made sure that vegetarians are happy here too!

Parting notes...

The urban environment of our childhood will most likely not exist as we become adults; this is one of the predicaments of being Singaporean. It is then important for the residents of older communities like Joo Chiat/ Katong to participate, get involved, so as to reinforce their identity as a community. This is the key theme of the things we do as an active member of our community. Our premises is filled with artworks created by neighbours such as murals of old Joo Chiat Road and even an art installation in the toilet.
